Welcome to An Iolaire, a special cottage influenced by traditional West Highland architecture and built by the owner incorporating local stone and wood.  An Iolaire (un yill-or-ah), is the Scottish Gaelic for the eagle – hopefully you’ll see one or more while you’re staying here!

The house is ideal for a wide range of guests, including couples, families with older children, outdoor enthusiasts, bird-watchers, or anyone looking to get away for a self-catering holiday on the west coast of Scotland, and in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.

As you venture further in, the open plan living-kitchen space unfolds, inviting you to relax and unwind. Embrace the comfort of our sitting room, with the focal point of the ‘woodburner’ that can be effortlessly controlled to provide a flame effect or a heater. With its mesmerising flame effect and comforting warmth, it sets the perfect ambience for your stay.
Take a moment to admire the fireplace, its bricks sourced from a Victorian walled garden and a repurposed oak beam.

At Dornie Croft, we anticipate your every need, making sure that our kitchen, fully equipped for culinary adventures, is nothing short of exceptional.

Discover the essence of luxury self-catering accommodation in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.

The cottage accommodates up to four people, however, it isn’t suitable for under-12s.  It is architect-designed and furnished to reflect a modern Scottish style using furnishings from a well-known design company. Eco-friendly, with underfloor heating and hot-water provided by an air source heat pump, there’s also an EV charger for guests’ use. and the house is fully equipped for self-catering.

We have aimed to equip our home to a high standard and to anticipate your needs by providing all the things you might want for a luxurious stay. There are binoculars for bird and otter spotting, cookery books, wildlife guides, maps and an interesting collection of novels if you want a lazy day at home.

Planning and reading

As you ascend the bespoke oak staircase, you’ll be greeted by a desk/working station with stunning views over the living room and the picturesque loch.

There’s high-speed broadband if you need to work while you’re at Dornie Croft or just catch up with e-mails. The desk provides an area for planning routes for the next day and making the most of your stay in the area.

It’s also a comfortable space so that guests can spread out through the house, giving three different seating areas. Underneath the coomb, you’ll spot one of our unusual antique finds.

Further along is the master bedroom at An Iolaire, a space of luxury and comfort. This spacious room boasts an en-suite full bathroom, ensuring your utmost comfort. With ample space and exquisite furnishings, including luxury textiles, you’ll feel pampered and relaxed throughout your stay.

We provide all linen and even Scottish toiletries for your convenience.
